Newsfeed Now for April 5: Auburn fans energized for NCAA tourney; Church fires in Louisiana

Newsfeed Now

On Newsfeed Now for April 5, we looked into concerns about the future of paid paternity leave in Arkansas. Without it, many people are forced to choose between a steady paycheck and time to bond with their baby. KNWA’s Kelly O’Neill joined us from Fayetteville to share some insight on the needs of working families.

Alabama was our next stop at the 6:15 mark where Auburn fans are energized for the NCAA tournament. They’re ready to watch their team play in the Big Dance even if some people are calling them the longshot. WIAT’s Conan Gasque brought us the latest on the big weekend for the Tigers.

Our next story at 10:15 took us to Louisiana where a string of church fires has authorities suspicious that an arsonist is at work. Three historically black Baptist churches in St. Landry Parish have been destroyed in the fires and the sheriff says he has the handcuffs ready to bring in a suspect. KLFY’s Tracy Wirtz was with us to share details.

And in Finally Friday at 15:00, we wrapped up the show in Nashville where a country music star has a big project underway. Singer Brad Paisley is setting up a free grocery shop to support needy families. He even drove the backhoe himself at a groundbreaking for the store. WKRN’s Cherish Lombard told us all about it.
