A Nocona man charged with assaulting two boys years ago has posted bond on his newest charge.
54-year-old Ricky Dale Howard was released early Wednesday afternoon from the Montague County Jail, after posting a new $500,000.
This is in addition to his original $400,000 bond for the first charge.
Howard had two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child filed in December, and on Tuesday two more counts were filed after authorities say a second victim came forward.
His bonds on the latest charge were $200,000 for each count, and his original bond was increased another $100,000 after his indictment on the first charges.
The first case involved a boy who was 13 when the alleged assaults occurred over a four year period beginning in 1996.
That person came forward and said Howard assaulted him about 500 times during that period, and threatened him to not go to authorities.
Montague County Sheriff Paul Cunningham said the other victim came forward recently, and said he was assaulted when he was 12 in 1994. He also said he believes more victims may be coming forward in the future.
Cunningham said the assaults were uncovered while investigators were working the Caleb Diehl missing person case in Nocona.
The teen’s family said Howard was a family friend, and that Diehl sometimes worked for him.
They say he was last seen when he borrowed Howard’s truck in March.
