An Elgin man is behind bars after police say he broke into a home early Monday morning.

Police arrested 39-year-old Christopher Cavinder for burglary of a habitation.

Officers were called to the 1800 block of Huff around 5 a.m.

That’s where a witness told police that cavinder and another man were looking into a neighbor’s windows with flashlights.

He also said he heard what sounded like glass breaking.

Police say when they got there, one of the back windows was broken and a flashlight was found on the floor.

Officials found Cavinder walking down the alley near the home and say he had a fresh cut on a finger.

The other suspect was found sitting on a porch of another nearby house and has been detained for questioning.

Cavinder is in the Wichita County jail and his bond is not yet set.

Police are not releasing the name of the second suspect at this time.
