LOUISVILLE, KY. — Asia Ford is on a journey to become a healthier version of herself. While doing so, she decided to participate in a 10K on Saturday.

Although she has already lost 200 pounds, a 10k was no easy feat; her breathing became labored after Mile 5.

But when paramedics tended to her, she refused to quit the race. So on she went.

And then a car pulled up next to her.

“I’m not going to let her quit, so I got out and she immediately grabbed my hand,” Lt. Aubrey Gregory said.

When Lt. Gregory asked Ford if she would like a ride to the finish line, she responded, saying, “No, we have two more miles to go.”

“I said, I’m not going to let her stop. We’re going to do this together,” Gregory told NBC affiliate WAVE3. “So I got out and I grabbed her hand.”
