The Iowa Park Police Department is trying to track down a semi-truck driver who may have unknowingly been a part of a freak accident early Monday morning.

At around 2:50 a.m., Officer Derek Vann says he got a burglary alarm call at McDonald’s off U.S. Highway 287 near Pacific Avenue.

When Vann arrived, he found two semi-truck tires sitting next to a window and part of the west side of the building that was demolished.

Vann said the tires and rims were still smoking and there was a small fire burning inside McDonald’s.

Vann and his partner used both their extinguishers and the fire department was called.

Vann said they believe the tires came loose on a trailer, then went down U.S. Highway 287 and across the Chisum Travel Center parking lot before smashing into McDonald’s. He said detectives cannot find any markings or damage to guardrails.

Those with any information should call 940-592-2181 — the Iowa Park Police Department.
