Thornberry Questions Hagel_3800182693793252632
Thirteenth District Congressman Mac Thornberry says if ISIS did carry out the attacks in Tunisia, the U.S. needs to take firm action against the the terror group.

In an audio message posted on Twitter Thursday, members of ISIS claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on western tourists at the Bardo Museum in Tunis.

Twenty-three people were gunned down. More than 40 others were injured.

Thornberry says it’s time for the U.S. to take firm action against ISIS instead of simply dropping a few bombs here and there.

“The broader momentum that ISIS has in a number of countries has got to be reversed,” Thornberry says. “They are growing. Not shrinking. Unfortunately the Obama administration just doesn’t seem to have a strategy for dealing with it.”

Thornberry says Tunisia is a democracy in the Middle East and they’re doing everything right, so for a terror attack of this size to happen on that country’s soil is a real tragedy.

He says the Tunisian people deserve to be defended.

Tunisia’s president says that nine people were arrested Thursday: four directly linked to the attack and five others thought to have ties to the terrorist cell.
