A man who was at the helm here in Texas for 14 years as governor of the state will now serve as President-Elect Donald Trump’s Secretary of Energy.

Rick Perry was confirmed by the President-Elect early Wednesday morning, after those close to the campaign speculated he’d be the pick earlier in the week.

Perry was also a candidate for the Secretary of State seat filled Tuesday by Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson.

Perry served as Governor of Texas from December 2000 to January 2015 and as Lieutenant Governor under George W. Bush.
