United Way of Wichita Falls offers free tax filing services and information for others seeking to file their taxes this season.

Those earning under $62,000 attend tax preparation sessions at VITA locations around town, including at Sheppard Across Road across from P3.

United Way representatives say those earning more than $62,000 can use the H&R Block software through their website MyFreeTaxes at a discounted rate.

A United Way press release says: Filers can enter data into the secure MyFreeTaxes site anytime, from anywhere, making it easy to update the documents from home, at work or on mobile devices. The service also includes a helpline, 1-855-MY-TX-HELP, which operates through April 18 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm EST Monday through Friday and noon to 9:00 pm EST Saturday; staff will continue to provide assistance on a more limited basis through October 15, based on demand. The website also provides a live chat function. To find a VITA site near you, visit MyFreeTaxes.com or call 1-855-MY-TX-HELP.

Last year, representatives say the VITA program helped almost 2,878 individuals and families save a combines $464,587 in tax preparation fees, and put $2.4 million dollars into our community through refunds.
