Gunfire takes the life of a McNiel Junior High student and leaves another undergoing treatment, as Wichita Falls police worked into the night, Friday, to find the man responsible.
The girls, both 13-years-old, are being identified as Lauren Landavazo and Makayla Smith. Landavazo died from her injuries. According to authorities, Smith is in stable condition.
Wichita Falls Police say the shooting happened at around 3:30 Friday afternoon, in the 5200 block of Kingston Drive in the alleyway.
Details on how it happened are not being released at this time.
The suspect is described as a white male, possibly between the ages of 16 and 18, with shaggy brown hair, possibly driving a black pickup with chrome running boards. According to witnesses, he was armed with a rifle.

Two hours after the shooting, police rushed to the nearby scene of another apparent shooting when shots rang out in the 5100 block of Tower Drive.
Two people were detained after authorities searched a home.
But, no word on whether the shootings are related.
