Wichita Falls Police Chief, Manuel Borrego, spoke at a Wichita County Republican Women luncheon at Luby’s Monday afternoon, addressing the recent violence against police — across the nation.

Chief Borrego spoke about the Wichita Falls Police Department and their tactics for protecting others as well as themselves.

He also addressed the recent events in other cities like Baton Rouge and Dallas, where multiple officers were killed and injured in violent attacks aimed at police officers.

The chief spoke about how he aims to keep his officers safe.

“Certainly, we are taking some other precautions out there,” Chief Borrego said. “We’re going to make sure our officers have their back ups and they are not calling them off and just make sure that we are safe out there — trying to get this job done.”

After his comments at the luncheon, he addressed questions and concerns. Chief Borrego also said he feels his department is well equipped and trained.
