A 16 year old Rider High School student was killed in a wreck near Alvord along highway 287 Friday afternoon.
DPS investigators say Christine Kim was killed in the accident. They say a Toyota 4Runner driven by 49 year old Daniel Kim was heading south on U.S. 287 around noon. The vehicle lost control, slid through the median and rolled ejecting Christine into an oncoming Toyota Tundra heading northbound.
The trooper on the scene says six occupants of both vehicles were transported to area hospitals. Christine was pronounced dead on the scene.
Rider High School Band director Loy Studer says Christine was a member of the Color Guard and played violin in the high school orchestra. He says she was also a very talented artist. He says, “Christine was a sweet, happy student with an incredibly quick wit. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this terrible time.”
The area where the wreck occured was experiencing heavy rain at the time of the incident and DPS is continuing their investigation.
