We all have heroes from when we were kids, for some it was a famous athlete, others aparent or teacher that helped us to dream big and realize our true potential.
But, sometimes the example the hero set reached beyond those in actual contact to others who read or heard about their actions.
“I actually read it in the paper that my neighbor had been working with big brothers big sisters and I think it is a worth while deal,” said John Jaco, this weeks Pay It Forward Winner.
It’s because of the example john’s neighbor unknowingly set that he wanted to give the $300 to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
A program that has seen large growth since it was introduced nearly six years ago in Wichita Falls.
“We currently have right at 100 matches and each one of them is supported,” said Kem Hogue the regional executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Each has a story of the individual impact their mentor has set for them.
“You know that the impact and the positive role models and the decision making skills they are making from these role models is helping them make good decisions as they turn into you adults and decide on careers,” Hogue said.
And now, thanks to the money from John, more kids will have those role models to help them as they grow up.
