YMCA Kicks Off Diabetes Prevention Program

A program that will educate people who are at risk for diabetes is officially kicking off on Monday, February 23rd.

The YMCA is hosting it’s annual Diabetes Prevention Program.

The program is for people who have or are at risk for diabetes.

It includes a series of six week programs.

There are sessions in the evening and during lunch hours, and anyone 18 years old and up can sign up.

Organizers say they would encourage people to sign up because it’s important to be educated and learn all there is to know about diabetes if you are at risk.

“Once you get diabetes everything changes, you have to watch what you eat, you have to go to the doctor more often, sometimes you’re on medication,” Donisha Reed with the YMCA says.

You don’t have to be a member of the YMCA to participate in the program.
