Bowie’s Addy Cook is a star on the basketball court, the softball field, and on the track. But there’s no question where her heart truly lies, “Volleyball is my favorite just because it’s the most fun thing I do. I get out there and every time I step on the floor, I’m having fun hitting the ball and it just gives me so much energy, me out there with my team, and all of us just pushing each other. There’s just nothing like it. It’s just so much more intense than all the other sports I’ve played. You’re always going somewhere, there’s always somewhere to be. As soon as the ball goes over the net, you have to be somewhere else, you have to be in a different position, you have to be doing something else. And other sports just aren’t like that. It doesn’t give you the same feeling.”
Addy is excited for her senior year. Especially because the volleyball team will feature six seniors.
But for Addy, the summer is no time for rest…in any sport. “We’re playing in a summer league, Tejas league in the metroplex against 5A and 6A teams to try to make us better. And as soon as we come back we finish and play a basketball summer league in Bowie.”
Addy’s love for sports began at a very young age, but she didn’t start playing volleyball until she was ten years old, “I wasn’t always for sure that it was my favorite, and then I got to high school and it just changed everything and I was like, that’s what I want to do, I want to play volleyball in college, and just went from there.”
