Shock the nation. That is the Henrietta Lady Cats motto this season… and that is exactly what they plan to do…

“I mean were small. We dont have a lot of size. We dont have a big big girl thats going to hit it out of the park every single time. Were usually the under dogs.. like going into the Brock game were going to be the underdogs. They’ve gone to state several several times and we havent been yet, so our goal is to just take it one game at a time and show them what we have.. keep them on their toes,” said Haleigh Hogan.

“Not everyone believed in us this year, and we had a really rough preseason so shocking the nation is what we’re doing to keep everyone on their toes to see what we can do,” said Kylee Erickson.

“The beginning of the season we scheduled tough so we went through our ups and downs in trying to figure out who we were in the spots that we were graduating from the year before. It took a team effort you know one through twelve to get that thing done so I’m super proud of them because they kind of self adjusted with the amount of experience we’ve had so… It’s just been trial and error and picking it up and trying to get that taken care of,” said Billy Arbogast.

The Lady Cats took care of buisness in the area round defeating coahoma shutting them out 10-0 in game one… and then 13-12 in game two. Henrietta scored eight times in the the seventh inning for a walkoff win!

“I think they’ve been to state ten times.. and they have never won it unfortunately for them but they have that same pedigree. They’re a good team and we knew going into it that they were a good team. They were a good team last year they played us tough. Super credit to them because they lost their pitcher in game one and so you know, everyone thinks that their down and out, but they didnt take it.. they didnt give up.. they didnt quit…” said Billy Arbogast.

Junior Haleigh Hogan and Senior Kylee Erickson played key roles in assuring the Lady Cats wouldn’t quit either.

“Haleigh’s a good player.. She’s gotta be focused and on her game and usually how she acts in the circle it calms everyone else down. We play good defense and we hit a little better and we have a sense of comfort.. not relaxtion.. but comfort when she’s on her game,” said Billy Arbogast.

“We pick each other up. If I have a bad inning, my defense is going to be there to back me up. If my defense has a bad inning, then I’m obviously going to be there to back them up. We have to go out and just do the best we can all the time.

“Kylee Erickson.. super leader.. works harder than anybody on the team you know taking extra reps and staying after, and the epitome of a good leader so when she comes up there… she’s going to give it her best. Give it her all. Usually can kinda stay within herself at the plate. That’s why she’s drove in 50 runs this year.. three years in a row. I mean a power hitter that gets it done,” said Billy Arbogast.

The Lady Cats are not done just yet….. Henrietta is ready to shock the nation.
