The Petrolia Lady Pirates didn’t reach the regional finals a year ago. But they had to watch two of their district foes compete in it. Their plans are to be back on that stage in a few weeks.
“Our main goal this season was just to get better than we were last year. I think that’s always been the goal, and to work more as a team and to have fun playing softball, because I think some people get too serious and get too into it,” says junior, Lindy Alexander.
Alexander has headlined the defense of this group, making a name for herself inside the pitching circle. But she’s grateful to have backup in the infield. Head Coach Eric Simmons has loved watching that part of the game grow, especially with such a young team.
“I have three freshman that start, and just seeing their growth and maturity and their improvement has helped get us to where we are.”
“We all just have a good time no matter what it is, we could be down 20-0, we could be up, we’re all just having a good time in the dugout, laughing, smiling, on and off the field,” adds Alexander.
