With a week 10 win over Plainview ….. the Wichita Falls Coyotes secured their spot in the postseason breaking a four year playoff drought….
Head Coach Grant Freeman see’s a different team after nine games.. a more mature… a more confident team.
Grant Freeman said, “They have the confidence to know that they can do it. You know anytime that you’re trying to turn a program around I think you talk about it, you practice it, you do all those things, but you really don’t know until you’ve put it out there on paper and you have come out and done it on the field, and so yea they have the confidence now to know they can play with anybody and play well and that they are a good football team so that’s exciting for them and exciting for us.”
Anthony Vargas said, “Just the chemistry that we’ve made.. you know had born the whole year leading up to this game. I mean the chemistry it takes us a long ways in the long run, and our team work and our capability of just coming and working together has really changed the whole season.”
Friday, November 2nd validated the Coyotes hard work ….
Defeating Plainview was more than just accomplishing the goal of advancing to the playoffs.
A.J. Byrd said, “We went out there and competed. We kept driving and driving and scoring as much as we can. We had a good time in the locker room, cheering and laughing.”
Anthony Vargas said, “Leading this team to a playoff game feels good, but the better thing, the better feeling is knowing we did it together as a team.”
Grant Freeman said, “It’s exciting.. you feel good, because really you’ve reached a goal that you’ve set early in the season and we don’t… We didn’t come into this season saying you know were gonna rectify four years of missing that mark.. All we were worried about was this year so you know we’re excited for the kids, the team… It was really good.”
Next up for the Coyotes? The biggest game of the season… The Rider and Old High matchup.
Isiah Cherry said, “I mean its a little bit of jittery like you get a little nervous, but I mean its kinda cool because it’s a big game and we can come together and play the other side of town.”
Grant Freeman said, “I mean were gonna be able to.. and I’m sure they are too be able to cut loose and have fun and really enjoy the spectacle of this game. I mean it is something different than anything I have ever seen before and what a great rivalry.. what great tradition that comes with it so to know that both teams are playoff teams and that Wichita is seeing a great brand of football Friday night, its going to be exciting for us.”
Exciting for all football fans!
