NASCAR driver Daniel Henric stopped by KFDX to talk about his new ride on the Monstar Energy Cup Series next season, his quest for this season’s Xfinity Series championship and more.
I, of course, had to ask him what he thought of Joey Logano’s bump and run victory at Martinsville.
“I kept poking my head in the last 15 laps and said oh-oh Martin’s coming,” said Hemric. “He’s catching Joey. As they started racing there side-by-side near the end I thought surely Martin’s going to keep Joey hung outside on the last lap. He can move him up a little bit and when Martin cleared Joey the white flag came out. I was telling everyone in the car ride over here Joey’s gonna run into the back of him. And sure enough they sent him down into the corner and the rest is history. But all of us grew up short track racing. That’s standard short track. That’s what you expect when the white flags out. Let alone in the NASCAR Playoffs. That means everything. You’ve got to give yourself and your team the best opportunity to get to Homestead. And that’s what Joey Logano did for his team.”
