But officials say there have been fewer than in past snow and ice storms.
They think drivers are actually staying at home during this recent bout of winter weather, as they’ve learned that these storms are not a force to be reckoned with.
Of that wrecks that have happened, officials say there is normally one underlying factor.
“We’re seeing most slideoffs are because of speed, so slow way down. And number two, people use their cruise control in bad weather: snow, and ice, and rain and stuff,” Adele Lwis with TxDOT said.
Lewis says despite rising temperatures there are still some slick spots out on the roads.
So if you decide to get out of the house, make sure you’re still being careful and taking your time on the roads.
