What’s the difference between an Apple Watch Series 4 and a Series 3? $120.
There is a little more to it than that, but just a little. When you ask which series is best for you, look over the similarities and the additional features in the 4.
The first thing you’ll notice is the size. The Series 4 has a much larger screen. It’s much easier to see icons and read messages with the 4. It’s also slightly thinner and works a little faster. That is the primary difference between the two. And there’s the $120. A Series 4 44mm and with only GPS, costs $420 while a Series 3 42mm is now $390.
What do both watches do?
Both the 3 and 4 have heart sensors on the back of the watch, the part that stays in contact with your wrist. You can see your heart rate immediately using an app, and set alerts if it beats too fast or too slow.
Both the 3 and 4 work with other health apps which bring all of the information into Apple’s Health app. They both track your workouts, steps, breathing. Using an app like ‘Strong’ tracks workouts in the weight room. Using the app “Sleep ++” you’ll see how you’re sleeping. What time you fell asleep, how many hours you slept and how much of that was restful. But only the Series 4 can take an EKG or ECG. Electro-Cardiogram. It’s this app. You place your finger on the digital crown, or side button, and hold it for 30 seconds. It will return all this information and show you if it detected an irregular heartbeat which could signal atrial fibrillation or Afib. A serious heart problem that may require emergency attention. note any symptoms you’re having at the moment and you can share it with your doctor
The ability to take an ECG is really the determining factor in whether you need an Apple Watch Series 3 or 4. Other than that and screen size, both models do the same things
